What if you walked up on a conversation and heard the people talking about "popping some Magic Mushroom and smoking some Bahama Mamas"?
Would you run away?
Would you call the police?
Would you gasp in disbelief?
Now, what if I said that the conversation was between a Pastor and a former Government official?
Now what would you do?
Well, that conversation actually DID take place... between my dad and me (my dad used to be a Mayor, hence the "Govt official" part).
NOW, before you start calling Bishops and local TV News stations, let me explain something...
"Magic Mushroom" is a popcorn from ConAgra Foods, based out of Omaha. My brother found some kettlecorn made of it and liked it because it pops with practically no kernals left behind.
Bahama Mamas, in this case, are a German-style smoked sausage made by Schmidt's in central Ohio.
But as this goes to show, if you don't know what the language is, how can you understand what is being said?
All so often, we'd rather judge on the first impression, instead of finding out more about something. In this senario, it's going to be a lot of tasty spicy German sausages and great popcorn!
The funny thing is that those who judge tend to be the first to spread the rumors...
And one of the most listed sins in the Bible is spreading rumors.
Ouch.
I'm going to go have some popcorn now.
